MOHAVE VALLEY – A mid-May traffic stop in Mohave Valley netted drug seizures and the arrests of a woman and her mother. Bullhead City police department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Detectives were working information that Amber Nowak, 31, was involved in the transportation and sale of illegal drugs in the tri-state area.

KINGMAN – A local judge has broad discretion at an upcoming sentencing hearing for a Kingman man arrested early this year for a sex offense involving a minor. Police reports indicate 69-year-old Russel Farney performed a sex act on a nine-year-old boy in Feb. at his home in the 2900 block of Snavely Ave.
Farney pleaded guilty to a charge reduced to attempted sexual conduct with a minor. Terms of the agreement entered may allow the Court to impose as little as probation and as much as 15 years in prison.

KINGMAN – A previously convicted sex offender has accepted a plea agreement in a new case. Johnathan Proenneke, 38, Kingman, entered a plea agreement during a May 21 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle.

KINGMAN – Judge Billy Sipe noted his support for the 2nd Amendment but also expressed disdain for weapons related offenses requiring him to send increasing numbers of people to prison. Sipe’s remarks came Friday, May 27, when he sent a Lake Havasu City man to the Arizona Department of Corrections.

A Kingman man has been arrested for alleged sexual relations with a local teenager. Steve Culajay, 37, was arrested on May 22 and jailed for sexual conduct with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man offered a new wrinkle to his request to withdraw from his guilty plea in a child pornography case before he was sentenced to prison Tuesday, May 21. Casey Cassidy, 30, pleaded guilty to two of the charges while six other sexual exploitation of a minor counts were dismissed during an April 4 hearing. Though he told the judge he was thinking clearly at the time, Cassidy changed his tune when he showed up for his May 10 sentencing hearing before Judge Camacho.
