KINGMAN – A Kingman teenager has been incarcerated for a Jan. 30 shooting. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) personnel responded at about 8 p.m. to a report that a suspect had fled the 3600 block of Northfield Ave. where a male had been shot in the head. The victim was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and was in critical condition when flown to a Las Vegas trauma facility for further treatment. MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said detective interviews determined that a 17-year-old suspect had been at the residence when a verbal argument escalated. “The juvenile produced a gun and…

Parallels between two fatal crashes resulting from fleeing criminals

KINGMAN – The recent death of a Kingman woman in a two-vehicle collision during a law enforcement pursuit in some ways parallels another tragedy that occurred here almost a decade ago. Both incidents produced the deaths of innocent civilians during police pursuits of parole absconders from the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC). Linda Chevalier, 66, Kingman, was fatally injured in April, 2014 when her vehicle was struck on Bank St. by another driven by Robert James Dodd, who was fleeing pursing officers at the time. Dodd, now 51, was sentenced to more than 60 years in prison for convictions following her death,…

Dates solidified for Shuffler hearings

KINGMAN – Friday’s status hearing for a Kingman teenager charged in the deaths of two fellow Lee Williams High School students and the serious injuries of two others was uneventful, though a calendar was solidified possibly leading to trial this spring. Brady Shuffler, 16, is charged with two counts of second degree murder and various other felony offenses for the April, 2023 high-speed single vehicle traffic accident that claimed the lives of Tatum Meins, 17, and Sherene “Siri” Walema, 15. Shuffler is accused of speeding at more than 100 miles per hour before losing control and rolling the vehicle he…
