Suspects chased arrested in drug deals

Thomas Morgan and Ashley Nail

BULLHEAD CITY – Two drug dealing suspects reportedly led officers during separate police pursuits before one jumped into the Colorado River with a bag full of illegal drugs. The June 27 incident began at 7:00 a.m. when the wanted couple, Thomas Morgan, 35, and Ashley Nail, 33, first eluded Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies during an attempted traffic stop in Mohave Valley.

Bullhead City narcotic task force officers attempted a second traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at about 8:20 a.m. on Silver Creek Road, resulting in another police pursuit on the Bullhead Parkway.

“When Morgan drove through the intersection at Highway 95, he clipped one vehicle. No injuries were reported,” said police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt. “When they crossed the Laughlin bridge, Morgan and Nail stopped the vehicle in the 1400 block of Casino Drive in Laughlin, NV, and fled on foot.”

Fromelt said Morgan jumped into the river with drugs.

“He ultimately surrendered to officers and was taken into custody,” Fromelt said. “A vacuum sealed packagecontaining approximately 1,000 blue M-30 counterfeit fentanyl pills was recovered from the river.”

Fromelt said Nail was able to escape for several days. She was taken into custody and booked into the Adult Detention Center in Kingman on July 2.

Both faces a variety of criminal charges.
