Guidelines for retail businesses, customers as openings resume next week

Local auto dealership tips police to alleged identity thief

KINGMAN – Michael Scott Andrews, 61, of Nevada, was arrested and charged with felony forgery, fraudulent schemes, and identity theft in Kingman. According to a Kingman Police Department (KPD) spokesperson, Andrews drew attention to himself while attempting to purchase a vehicle at a Kingman automotive dealership. When staff at the dealership notified KPD regarding Andrews’ suspicious activity, it was discovered that the identity and banking information provided by Andrews actually belonged to another person living in Henderson, Nev., and that several other accounts had been opened in the victim’s name, all in the Kingman area. MCC awards over $1.1 million in scholarships to local high school students

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College just awarded more than 560 scholarships to high school students throughout Mohave County, which totals $1.176 million going toward students achieving higher education. The college is currently notifying students to let them know they qualify for the Academic Honors Scholarship worth $1,000, Campus Dean’s Scholarship worth $1,500 or the President’s High Honors Scholarship, which gives students $4,000 over two years. “MCC and our Foundation partners are happy to offer scholarships to so many deserving students from Mohave County. Kingman woman charged with embezzling $250,000 from Nucor Steel

UPDATED 05/01/2020: TO CORRECT HEADLINE KINGMAN – Nucor Steel believes an employee stole more than one-quarter million dollars in a company check conversion, personal deposit scheme. A multiple month investigation led to Wednesday’s arrest of Christy AnnLopez, 42, Kingman.
