Kingman woman charged with embezzling $250,000 from Nucor Steel

UPDATED 05/01/2020: TO CORRECT HEADLINE KINGMAN – Nucor Steel believes an employee stole more than one-quarter million dollars in a company check conversion, personal deposit scheme. A multiple month investigation led to Wednesday’s arrest of Christy AnnLopez, 42, Kingman. A Mohave County sheriff’s office investigation was initiated in late January after company officials requested assistance regarding suspected internal theft. “Detectives were contacted by Nucor Steel in reference to an employee that they believed had potentially embezzled $254,361 by fraudulently cashing checks from the business into their personal checking account,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “The company had conducted an audit…

Two deaths, 8 new COVID-19 cases in Mohave County today

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (May 1, 2020) The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified this afternoon of two COVID-19 related deaths and eight positive cases. Both deaths were in previously identified confirmed cases. The two deaths occurred in the Kingman service area. Both are linked to another case.  One is in the 75-85 year range and the other is 86+. Regarding the 8 cases, 7 are in the Kingman service area and 1 is in the Lake Havasu area. The investigation is pending on the Havasu case. City offices to remain closed to the public until May 11

KINGMAN – In following Governor Ducey’s Executive Order (2020-33) the amended “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected,” the City of Kingman is continuing the current closures of all city buildings (except the Municipal Courthouse and Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course) to all public access until May 11, however we are still conducting business remotely, through mail, email, online platforms, and telephone. No special event permits will be issued for the month of May. This does not implement a curfew in the City of Kingman. This does, however, continue to enforce the closures of dine-in restaurants, salons, barber shops, spas, etc. Some retail establishments may begin opening…
