BULLHEAD CITY —The City of Bullhead City, in sponsorship with Nevada State Recycling and Mohave Shred, will host a community-wide electronic waste and paper shredding event on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. until noon. MCC hosts Mathlympics for local high school students

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College held its annual Mathlympics event where local high school students compete in challenging math assessments. The event took place on the MCC Lake Havasu Campus, Friday, April 19. Over 130 students participated from Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Mohave Valley, Needles and Parker. Elder arrested in dog park shooting incident

KINGMAN – A shooting occurred after two elderly Kingman residents argued and fought at the dedicated dog park at Lewis Kingman Park on Wednesday, May 1. Deputy Police Chief Joel Freed said officers responded to the park in the 2200 block of East Andy Devine Ave. at about 10:30 a.m. Freed said it was determined that Daniel Kemple, 75, and an 82-year-old man squared off in a dispute involving dogs fighting one another. MOHAVE COUNTY –  The State of Arizona is on the clock to respond to a legal brief formally requesting reversal of the Dec., 2022 protective designation of the Hualapai Ground Water Basin as an Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA). The pleading filed April 15 by Tucson-based Hofmeyr Law requests that Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Joseph P. Mikitish direct the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to overturn former Director Tom Buschatzke’s Findings, Decision and Final Order that granted Mohave County’s request to designate the INA to prohibit additional groundwater use by expanded agriculture production north of Kingman.
