Covid -19:Walking in the wilderness

Dear Editor, Most of America has been addled from our normal lifestyle. Today, we aren’t for sure what normal is anymore. Covid-19 has been and is like a walk in a wilderness where we have never ventured before.  While we are wandering through this new wilderness in our lifetime here are some suggestions for you. Use your telephone or facetime every chance you have. Put voices or even faces with voices in your life. Reacquaint yourself with some old friends or make some new friends. We live in a texting, messaging age. Messaging is good but a real voice and even…

Cactus needles really feel like needles!

Dear Editor, As we continue in our self-quarantine, my determination to get a green thumb, no matter what, has begun to wear thin. I have several cactus that have been in the front yard of our house for years. Although beautiful, they have been a real stickler (literally) for our precious baby dog, Diego. His daily routine included chasing doves, rabbits, quail, trucks, horses and people. His all time favorite, rabbits. These guys are fast and have sought refuge under these beautiful cactus in which he makes a head first dive to try and catch them. Then, we spend hours…

From bunnies to ants

Dear Editor, As the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing continues, I too, decided to try my hand at gardening. I was feeling pretty good about myself until the rabbits came to dinner with forks in hand for a gourmet dinner. Being jazzed to the whole idea, I found myself at war with the little critters. It seemed we butted heads on what would be “rabbit proof”. Although there are plants that they do not like, they will try any plant at least once. So, on a mission and sheer determination to keep my babies alive, I decided it would be…

Covid-19, We’ll find a way

Dear Editor, Social distancing is tough for most of us. We love gathering in ballgames, movies, theatres, restaurants, churches and with family.  Seeing our neighbors and friends in the local grocery or chatting at the post office is a normalcy of life, was a normalcy of life. The new normal is shocking. Now we have to dodge people in the grocery store and be six feet apart in the post office all while wearing a mask. We don’t even know if our neighbor is in the grocery store or the post office. We can hardly recognize our neighbor walking by each…

Superior Beings?

Dear Editor, We humans have been deluded into believing we are the apex of the mammalian line of beings. WRONG. To examine a few examples, please follow: You can go  into just about any pet emporium and see several thousand square feet of foodstuffs made especially and exclusively for our pet animals. This stuff ain’t cheap, folks! Whether it is intended to entice little Barky or Miss Puss, if you are not an animal lover, you’ll gasp at the prices. If you are one of us people who will spend half a week’s wages on Fifi or Fido and not…
