We see so much change taking place in this our United States, demonstrations (often not peaceful), anti-police and anti-establishment. History of our country destroyed by way of statues torn down, graffiti writing and burning. As fatigued and despondent as many in our community and nation are regarding the continual onslaught of unfortunate news regarding Covid-19 and the social unrest and protests triggered by the George Floyd incident and death, it is prudent for Christian pastors to respond to the concerns our members and community at large have surrounding these current events. In every church, members are asking what this all means. For those whose interest is studying the apocalyptic nature of end times, this is a proverbial dress rehearsal for the future. I wonder if the writer of the letter calling those of us who choose to wear masks and practice social distancing to protect ourselves and other from COVID-19 would, in his infinite wisdom, allow a surgeon to perform surgery on him without anyone in the O.R. wearing a mask? If has been well over a century ago the medical profession began postulating wearing gloves, masks, and using sterile equipment in a sterile environment, reduced nosocomial infections in post-op patients.
