Win or lose, we all lose

Dear Editor,

In a tweet, President Trump instructs Treasury Secretary Mnuchin to stop negotiations on a new stimulus plan with House Speaker Pelosi until after the election. He tweeted “… immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill.” Then, presumably upon realizing the potential damage that plan might possibly inflict on his re-election prospects, (especially since he had just tweeted “Work together to get it done”), while hospitalized, he changed his tune.

Now Trump would like to give $25 billion to bail out airlines as well as supporting troubled businesses. Never mind there are perhaps millions of Americans who are out of jobs and many are struggling to pay mortgages as well as putting food on their tables. “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche,” Marie-Antoinette’s infamous quip about letting the peasants eat cake if no bread happened to be available, seems to be Trump’s attitude.

Or there may be other reasons regarding Trump’s motives for his actions. Because of the paranoia I’ve acquired in the past three plus years I would not be surprised if conservatives in general are loath to admit a socialistic idea like a stimulus influx of money from the government might be the solution. Further it is not outside the realm of possibilities Mr. Putin has instructed Trump to crash the economy because it looks like Trump is going to lose the election, and this might make it easier for the Soviets to assume control of the country. I know it sounds far fetched, but, ..??

  1. I can’t believe how ignorant this post is. Obviously, you dont know history. Since its 3 years back that your talking about, you fail to see who’s been holding everything up. Nancy Pelosi and the democratic party, once again , are throwing up road blocks to stop anything that the President is trying to do for the American people. The last stimulus plan had to include monies for the Kennedy center, 25 million in fact. Now I ask you, what did that have to do with helping the American people? Have you been to the Kennedy center? Did giving them this money help you? Not to mention their dumb alternatives in order to get what they want, claiming to want to help the American people. It’s obvious you are listening to the fake news and have been brain washed into making their Socialist country a reality. Did you know only sheep follow? President Trump is a leader not a follower and He’s not going to lose. We will never be a socialist country. Were staying on the Trump Train and I urge you to come along before its to late to change your mind IF biden wins.
