COVID-19 numbers for Mohave County

MOHAVE COUNTY – COVID-19 has resulted in 672 hospitalizations in Mohave County dating back to the start of the pandemic. That’s roughly 17% of the 3,959 people who’ve tested positive in northwest Arizona. These are some of the many statistics Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley provided during Thursday’s special Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. Burley told board members that 3,572 people infected in Mohave County have recovered from the coronavirus. 217 deaths have been recorded. Burley said new coronavirus case counts have averaged 61 people over the last three weeks. Nursing Services Manager Lynn Valentine said there’s…

Supes vote to maintain COVID emergency declaration

MOHAVE COUNTY – Supervisor Hildy Angius’ push to end Mohave County’s COVID-19 emergency declaration failed in a predictable 3-2 vote during Thursday’s special board meeting in Kingman. Supervisor Ron Gould sided with Angius, while the rest of the board voted to keep in place Chairman Jean Bishop’s March 18 proclamation. Angius and Gould contend dwindling numbers of coronavirus cases and deaths have ended any local emergency that may have existed. And they want government to retreat from edicts and return liberty to the people to make their own health care determinations. “People can make up their own minds themselves how…

These three people – Rick Veradt, Jerry Lucero, and Sue Brown – have been served a cease and desist notice from NACFD Attorney, due to their unlawful use of NACFD Logo on their signage and websites. These three responded to the cease and desist notification, stating that they will not…

Signs are being corrected

Dear Editor, We understand that the NACFD board has sent a news release to you re: Our campaign signs. We explained our signs but the board still demanded our signs be taken down. In an effort to appease them we have altered our signs. I have attached a copy of our original response to the NACFD board. As of today I am still double checking our signs to make sure they are altered. We hope you will include this response if you print the NACFD news release. Rick Veradt Kingman

Man accused of molesting six-year-old set free

KINGMAN – A Kingman man who faced life in prison is a free man after entering a plea agreement resolving allegations that he forced a six-year-old girl to perform sex acts three years ago. Bradley Manseau, 30, was released from the Mohave County Adult Detention Center after he entered a plea agreement and was sentenced Wednesday. Lenient disposition results from the mother of the victim not wanting to put her daughter through the stress of a second trial. A hung jury was declared during Manseau’s trial last November because the panel could not reach unanimous verdicts. “This little girl has…
