Foster extends thanks for community support

To the Amazing People in Supervisorial District 1: Thank you to those who believed in me, voted for me, worked on fundraisers, walked with me and opened your hearts as well as your wallets.  I am not a financially wealthy person and appreciate all of those who contributed to my campaign (both large and small). This enabled me to run a competitive campaign. It is not in my DNA to talk incessantly about myself (but it is often expected in political campaigns); rather, I wanted to hear about YOU.  As I often said, for me it is more personal than…

Federal funding needed for cultured meat research

Dear Editor, Readers who care about animal welfare should ask Senators Martha McSally and Kyrsten Sinema to support federal funding for cultured-meat research. Cultured meat is grown from cells, without slaughtering nonhumans. It has the potential to eliminate unimaginable levels of suffering. After all, we kill tens of billions of land animals and over a trillion aquatic animals for food every year. Ending this violence is more plausible than you think. A growing number of companies are developing cultured-meat products. Even Tyson Foods, the slaughtered-meat giant, has invested in the sector. However, costs of these humane options will need to…

Every American Has Troubles

Everybody has troubles. If you don’t believe it then ask any American living in the year 2020. Most of us are accustomed to having troubles occasionally. Some have more than others. Some people think that “some people” never have a problem. All people on some level have troubles. An old preacher friend of mine from Florida use to say “Glenn, on every level, there is a new devil.” This is true. The poor have troubles. The rich have troubles. The famous have troubles. People in obscurity have troubles. Today, 2020 in almost every inch of the United States and with…

The presidential election and its impact on economic freedom

Four years ago, I was honored to share why I was supporting then-candidate Donald J. Trump on the stage of the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. My Dad, a U.S. Army veteran and small business owner, was proudly in attendance. Speaking before those at the convention and on television, I described my family’s history as small business owners. Those who come from small business families share a similar story of working hard with deep dedication to family and love for America. These small business families and their employees are dealing with the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. As we…
