Focus on what you do

Dear Editor, If you want a friend, be a friend. There is never a guarantee. However, if you do not put anything into a friendship, it’s certain the friendship will never grow. Keep in mind that friendships take time. The Bible says, “a man of too many friends will soon come to ruin” (Proverbs 18:24). Why is this? Because too much time maintaining too many friends doesn’t allow you the time you need to work your job, spend time with your family, do your schoolwork, life work, or take care of your business. If a person has ten or twenty friends…

Concerns raised over Ivermectin and COVID-19

Dear Editor, James J.’s letter in the Sept. 8 edition titled “Questions continue about vaccines and treatments” reveals precisely why we, as a society, are still battling this COVID-19 pandemic. He poses the question: “Why should we Americans rely on educated derelicts?” Why? Because they know more than the Fox News people and the Governors who doubt the science. The experts know this is a new virus which until a couple of years ago was unknown, and there is a learning curve here. As we learn more about this virus, treatment modalities may need to be changed. Is it time to run and hide or live for God?

Dear Editor, Colossians 1: 23-29: “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill that up which is behind the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church. Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word…

Worry rarely changes anything

Dear Editor, Life presents challenges to us all and most of us understand worry. There are enough ordeals along the way of life to cause each of us to worry our heads off. However, worry will never add another day to our lives. Worry will not smooth a wrinkle, dry a tear, or eliminate disease or poverty. It will not keep someone from harm. Worry has never prevented bad news or bad things from happening.   Worry rarely changes anything except to make us tense. This usually results in sleep loss, nausea, ulcers, and chest pain. Who needs any of these? Worry…
