Dear Editor, I have been suffering from shortness of breath and minor heart issues attributed to this making my heart slow or stop beating.  This has caused me to be hospitalized at KRMC several times over the past 12 months, having three stints put in and a pacemaker.  Again, Tuesday morning, I was fighting severely for breath and plummeting blood pressure, so I made my way to the ER at KRMC approximately 8:30 a.m. where I was quickly taken to an exam room and a staff of professionals examined me.   Again, a familiar level of concern came over their faces…

A person would think hunger and the inconvenience of living in a car, seeking shelter in a cardboard box or sleeping on a sidewalk is the worst part of being homeless. It isn’t. Yes, going for two or three days with little food, unable to shower or practice proper hygiene plus the indignities, embarrassment and humiliation of being both broke and homeless are pretty tough things to deal with.
