MOHAVE COUNTY — The Mohave County Recorder’s Office

Thank you for reading The Standard newspaper online!

Why? I don’t know.

Dear Editor,

The five Mohave County District Supervisors make new ordinances to get votes knowing all the departments will not be able to handle them because of resources, manpower, and money. Why? I don’t know.

The Environmental Department does a great job knowing the ordinances and they aren’t afraid to tell violators who are breaking the ordinances the consequences if they are not followed. Why? I don’t know.

The Public Health Department does a great job too, except about five or six years ago a man was bitten by a thousand bee stings and died. They don’t seem to have any record on file of that incident. Why? I don’t know. The big old broken-down shed is still standing up where the bees came from and no action to tear it down. It should have been demolished a long time ago. Why? I don’t know.

The Road Department does a good job but has a lot of problems with road easement, signs, boulders, vehicles, and semi-trailers in Valle Vista. Valle Vista Compliance Committee could help if they wanted to but don’t. Why? I don’t know.

Now the Mohave County Code Enforcement is a big problem and not doing a very good job. Too many ordinances, not enough resources or manpower. Why? I don’t know. This Department seems to be for the violators, not the complaintive who have to jump through hoops while the violators sit back and wait for nothing to happen. And then it goes back to the County Attorneys and they drop the ball. Why? I don’t know. Shall I go on?

The Sheriff’s Department does a pretty good job except it took three months for them to learn about an ordinance that is twenty years old with semi-trailers parking on the road easement. Why? I don’t know.

Maybe if District One Supervisors would get all the departments to work together at one time and follow the Mohave County ordinances maybe we could change things for the better for Mohave County. Why? I don’t know.

Even a blind person can see things that Mohave County is not following and enforcing the ordinances. Why? I don’t know.

The Northern Arizona Fire District and Fire Chief is another story.

These are some of the reasons Mohave County has a Butler area and it hasn’t changed much in the twenty-three years I have lived in Valle Vista, and it won’t change as long as everyone keeps doing the same thing. That’s too bad. Why? I don’t know.
