Protest provocation prompts prison punishment

KINGMAN – An ex con who pointed a pellet gun at a group of Black Lives Matters (BLM) protesters at a Kingman demonstration is being sent back to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert rejected pleas for probation Monday and ordered a 3.5-year prison term for Robert Fernandes, 43. Babysitter charged in sexual, physical abuse case

BULLHEAD CITY – An elderly Bullhead City man has been arrested for harming young children during babysitting sessions. Harold Stanley Pinkard, 70, was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Center Monday. “The victim’s parents reported to police that their children had been sexually abused and physically assaulted while Pinkard was babysitting them,” said police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt. She said detectives learned that Pinkard sexually abused girls 7 and 11 years of age and physically abused a 4-year-old boy. “The abuse occurred on several occasions while the children were in his care since July,” Fromelt said. Masks still mandatory in city government buildings

KINGMAN – The Kingman City Council voted to end the mask mandate, Tuesday evening at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting; however local businesses can still require face coverings due to their individual store policies. Kingman City Government buildings will still require the use of face coverings in buildings. The Kingman City Council hopes the community will still respect those who choose to wear masks, and those businesses that post signs to require face coverings. KINGMAN – The Kingman City Council voted 4-3 to repeal the mask mandate following 1:45 minute discussion during Tuesday’s meeting. Deana Nelson’s motion to rescind the mandate was supported by fellow council members SueAnn Mello Keener and Ken Watkins and Vice Mayor Travis Lingenfelter. LHCPD awarded Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Grant

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for conducting increased traffic enforcement operations. This will be for the 2020-2021 federal fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. This Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, or S.T.E.P. Grant will provide the Lake Havasu City Police Department the ability to increase traffic enforcement capabilities by assigning personnel on overtime to concentrate on speed enforcement activities and aggressive driving.
