KINGMAN — When new students walk into the All Starz Academy in Kingman, one of the first things they see is a large sign that reads, “Your Moment to Shine Begins Now!” At the recently completed AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa, the All Starz athletes lived up to that promise.
The event — the largest youth multi‑sport competition in America — brought together thousands of athletes from across the country. Fourteen gymnasts from the Kingman earned coveted spots at Nationals, and once they arrived, they delivered one of the strongest collective performances the program has ever produced. Over four days, All Starz athletes claimed 21 gold medals, 23 silver, nine bronze, and dozens of additional top‑ten finishes.
Owner and Head Coach Brandee Proffit said the experience was both emotional and validating.
“Oh, it was really exciting to be able to go to Des Moines and to have our gymnasts show what they really are made of,” Proffit said. “So this year going in having 15 qualify, 14 actually went, I just can’t even describe how that felt.”
Profit, who has owned and operated the local facility since 1997, said she is grateful for the recognition the gym continues to receive.

“Very good, considering we are a small town gym, and we’re competing against gyms that have so many more students than we do,” she said. “So it’s pretty exciting to be in there, in the big leagues against the big cities.”
From top to bottom, Kingman’s athletes made their presence known. In total, they gathered 53 medals, with standout performances across every level. Eleven‑year‑old Xilyn Wolsey captured gold in the All Around with a score of 39.2, a performance some observers described as one of the most dominant of the entire Games. The All Around title is awarded to the gymnast who earns the highest combined marks in floor exercise, bars, balance beam, and vault.
Many more trophies will soon be adorning the shelves at the All Starz Academy after a memorable and highly successful trip to the AAU Junior Olympics.
