Traffic fatalities in Arizona rose for third straight year in 2022

There were 1,294 traffic fatalities across the state last year, an increase of 8.6% compared to 2021, according to the 2022 Arizona Motor Vehicle Crash Facts report. Figures show crashes associated with inappropriate speed and speeding accounted for a greater share of deaths and injuries, providing a sobering reminder for Arizonans to avoid such unsafe driving behaviors. Pedestrian, bicyclist and motorcyclist deaths all increased last year. Overall, the 2022 traffic fatality total is the second-highest ever recorded in Arizona and only slightly behind the 1,301 deaths recorded in 2006.  The Bullhead City School District (BCSD) and the Mohave County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) have announced the schedule for tuberculosis disease testing on Friday (August 11) at Diamondback Elementary School, 2550 Tesota Way. Testing is for students and employees who were potentially exposed from March through June of the 2022-2023 school year. Although parents or guardians must be present or provide a consent form for minors to be tested, MCDPH will not be testing family members at Friday’s clinic, which runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Schedules are staggered to minimize back-ups, but some delays may occur.  Please…

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City police department has released the name of the pedestrian who was fatally injured when struck by a vehicle on Friday, July 28. Agency spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the 6:46 p.m. collision on highway 95 near Riverview Drive claimed the life of David Leland Arnold, 59. Arnold died following life flight to a hospital in Las Vegas. Fromelt said police tracked down the man who fled the scene of the accident by locating the suspect vehicle in the 2500 block of Calle Bonita. I-40 crash causes Valle Vista power outage

BULLHEAD CITY – A collision between a tractor trailer truck and a primary distribution pole disrupted service for a portion of the Eastern Service area early Thursday morning. The crash occurred near mile marker 65 on I-40, just east of Kingman, at 12:33am on August 10. The heavy impact caused the pole to break. As a result, 1,113 MEC members in the Valle Vista community experienced an outage. MEC crews responded, replaced the broken pole, and made necessary repairs.  Power was restored to all affected by 6:37 am. Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative.
