Judge says Wright deal is wrong

KINGMAN – A local judge has rejected a plea agreement proposed for the Henderson man who used a modified armored vehicle that served as his home to block the U.S. 93 Colorado River bridge linking Arizona with Nevada north of Kingman. It was nearly two years ago when Matthew Wright, 32, stopped traffic on the bridge during a 90-minute ordeal that ended when he drove south into the Arizona desert where his big rig was immobilized. KINGMAN – A 12-hour-long peaceful demonstration closed with dozens of protesters kneeling in silent prayer at Locomotive Park in downtown Kingman Tuesday. Hundreds of people visited the park under the watchful eyes of at least 30 law enforcement personnel from the Kingman Police Department and Mohave County Sheriff’s office. Members of the Arizona Patriots and a local militia stood by to make certain the protest did not erupt in violence or property damage. COVID-19 update: 13 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (June 2, 2020) Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 13 new COVID-19 confirmed cases. Also, there is a death of a person 80-89, a previously reported case in the Bullhead City area. Of the 13 new positive cases, 12 are in the Bullhead City service area. Four cases are under investigation: one of those is 19-29; one is 30-39; two are 60-69.  Four cases are recovering at home and the case is under investigation. Juelfs named to CSC’s President’s List

Kael Juelfs of Kingman, was named on the Chadron State College President’s List for the Spring 2020 semester. Students on the list have a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. To qualify, students must be enrolled in 12 credit hours of coursework, be seeking their first bachelor’s degree, and have no incomplete grades during the semester.  Chadron State College, which was founded in 1911, is the only four-year, regionally-accredited college in the western half of Nebraska.

Sounds of Kingman to present first concert of the season

KINGMAN – The first Concert in the Park this year features the Dale Gillespie Blues Project. The concert will be held Sunday, June 14 at 4 p.m. at Metcalfe Park in downtown Kingman. Leader Dale Gillespie formed the group when he moved to Kingman from Alaska about two and a half years ago. They perform a mix of classic rock and blues combined with some original works.
