KINGMAN, Ariz. – The City of Kingman is inviting the community to take part in the 56th Annual Andy Devine Parade, set for Saturday, September 19, at 10 a.m. in historic Downtown Kingman.
This year’s theme, “Two Journeys, One Celebration,” recognizes two major milestones, the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and America’s 250th Birthday. Participants are encouraged to celebrate the theme through creative floats, costumes, performances, vehicles, and other entries.
Leading this year’s parade as Grand Marshal will be Sam Elters, former Mohave County Manager and State Engineer, longtime Kingman resident, and current member of the Arizona State Transportation Board.
The City is currently seeking a wide variety of participants to help make this year’s parade a memorable one, including civic and youth groups, businesses, clubs, schools, antique and restored vehicles, marching bands, dance and performing groups, equestrians, distinguished guests, and other community organizations.
Applications are available through Friday, September 11, at the Kingman Parks & Recreation Office, 3333 Harrison Street, by calling 928-757-7919, or online at www.cityofkingman.gov under Parks & Recreation in the Forms and Information section.
Parade entry is free, and optional participation plaques are available for $35 at the time of application. Late entries may be accepted as space allows, with final confirmation required by noon on Friday, September 18.
The City encourages residents, businesses, and organizations to be part of this longtime Kingman tradition and help celebrate another year of the Andy Devine Parade.
