Dad given time served for slapping disabled daughter

KINGMAN – An elderly Fort Mohave man who harmed his disabled daughter was released from jail Thursday following his sentencing hearing in Mohave County Superior Court. Dean Peters, 72, was sentenced to 72 days in jail and credited with having spent that many days in custody. Peters was arrested on June 25 after an incident in the 5900 block of S. Vice Mayor pleads ‘not guilty’ in theft case

KINGMAN – Bullhead City Vice Mayor Annette Wegmann pleaded not guilty to a felony theft charge during her arraignment in Mohave County Superior Court in Kingman Thursday. Wegmann was indicted in a “he said-she said” dispute regarding what happened to the contents of a condo during her previous employment with a property management firm. Wegmann issued a statement Tuesday professing her innocence, and expressing eagerness to clear her name as the case unfolds. Off-duty officer spots ongoing drug deal

KINGMAN – An observant off-duty officer is credited with spotting a suspected drug deal going down in a commercial parking lot and calling it in Tuesday, Sept. 3. Kingman Police Department officers responded at 9:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Stockton Hill Road where they attempted to make contact with a man in a parked car. BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City Vice Mayor Annette Wegmann has been charged with theft in a dispute over furnishings that were removed from a condo managed by a company that formerly employed her. Wegmann faces arraignment in Mohave County Superior Court in Kingman Thursday. KINGMAN – Kingman police say a woman was hurt and a man was arrested after they engaged in a domestic dispute where they reside together in the 600 block of Market Street. Officers responded to a reported stabbing on the property at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3. Deputy Police Chief Rusty Cooper said the 60-year-old woman was struck in the head by a fan and stabbed in the arm by a screwdriver. Mom arrested for forging name on birth certificate

KINGMAN – The Arizona Department of Child Safety has taken custody of an infant whose mother who admitted writing in the name of a friend on her daughter’s birth certificate. Deputy Kingman Police chief Rusty Cooper said investigators believe that Jackie Dougherty did so because there was a warrant for her arrest, and she feared possible health complications for her newborn daughter due to her drug use during pregnancy. Cooper said Dougherty was already in jail on a probation violation when she was charged with forging the certificate on August 29.
