Law enforcement encourages Labor Day DUI awareness

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department will be conducting DUI enforcement details from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, for the Labor Day holiday, per a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The Labor Day weekend is one of the deadliest times of the year in terms of nationwide drunk-driving fatalities according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Lake Havasu City Police Department reminds everyone participating in Labor Day festivities to enjoy the weekend responsibly and arrange for a designated driver. KPD Honor Guard honored

KINGMAN – On Wednesday, August 28, members of the Kingman Police Department (KPD) Honor Guard where recognized for their contributions to the Kingman Veterans Treatment Court (VTC). The VTC has held 16 graduation ceremonies over the past four years, celebrating the graduation of 32 veterans. The KPD honor guard, with assistance of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office honor guard, has opened each ceremony with presentation of our nation’s colors. Judge rules that early signage illegal for Prop 415 opponents

MOHAVE COUNTY – A ruling by a judge in Kingman favors Bullhead City’s position that political signs supporting a “No” vote on Proposition 415 were put up about two weeks early.  Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen’s denial of a request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) allows the city to enforce its statutory interpretation that some 75 signs must be taken down because they can’t legally be posted until September 5, 60 days before voters decide the ballot proposition in the general election. Two charged in LHC drug bust

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City police report seizures and arrests following a two-month investigation of suspected sale of heroin and methamphetamine from a residence in the 3000 block of Erwin Lane. Officers serving a search warrant at that home on August 27 reportedly seized several grams of heroin, a half ounce of meth, multiple narcotic pills and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. MCSO adds new K9 team

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to introduce their newest K9 team, Deputy Shawn McCleary and Grimm. K9 Grimm was selected on May 30, and the team began training together at Adlerhorst Police Dog Handler School. The team graduated and earned their certifications on August 23, and now specialize in patrol, narcotics, and handler protection. Deputy McCleary and Grimm will be assigned to the Lake Havasu City area. Deputy McCleary is a 14-year employee with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, graduating from the academy in December 2004.
