Leal sentenced to three years for drug charges

KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City man convicted of drug offenses was given a three-year prison term during a Sept. 6 sentencing hearing in Kingman. The punishment for Kevin Leal, 30, was mandated in a plea agreement convicting him of possession of narcotic drugs for sale and possession of dangerous drugs for sale. The charges stemmed from a January 24 search of a residence at 2785 Barbara Drive. Officers responding to a domestic dispute conducted a search after smelling marijuana after they arrived. Yefry Harrison Arias-Saldana, 35, Chicago, faces prison time if convicted of multiple controlled substance related charges stemming from an October 21, 2018 traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Kingman. GOLDEN VALLEY – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies arrested Larry Earl Edmondson, 23 of Golden Valley, for criminal damage, second degree escape, destruction to a jail, all felonies; marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession, both misdemeanors; and an active arrest warrant. Light jail time for couple who found suitcase full of cash

KINGMAN – The lesser involved defendant in the discovery of a suitcase full of cash was placed on probation and ordered to spend 30 days in the Mohave County Jail Friday. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle also directed Chrystal Himmelright, 41, to perform 40 hours of community work service. The judge and involved attorneys agree that Himmelright was less culpable than her co-defendant boyfriend Jeremiah Peacey. KINGMAN – A Fort Mohave woman charged with converting a check from a Bullhead City church where she previously served as treasurer hesitated during a Tuesday change of plea hearing at the Mohave County Courthouse in Kingman. Melissa Sistar, 42, expressed concern that the conviction could negatively impact her employment pursuits or involvements.
