Peacey found guilty of theft

KINGMAN – On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Jeremiah Grant Peacey, 40, of Kingman was found guilty of theft of $170,000 from a suitcase stolen from a cart at the Kingman Walmart.

During trial, Peacey did not dispute taking the suitcase, but rather the amount of money that was in the suitcase. He maintained that there was significantly less than $170,000.

The prosecution laid out a case that detailed how the victim calculated the amount of money she possessed in the suitcase through her own meticulous recordkeeping and argued that the defendant made no reasonable attempt to contact the original owner of the suitcase.

Peacey’s wife, Crystal Himmelwright, was previously sentenced to 30 days in the Mohave County Jail after she was found guilty of using $25,000 of the stolen money to bail Peacey out of jail. Peacey’s sentencing is set for Jan 10, 2020.
