Four arrested on drug charges

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Four Lake Havasu City residents have been arrested following a multiple-month investigation of suspected drug sale activity at a home in the 1600 block of Avalon Avenue. A search of the residence was conducted Tuesday, February 11. “Detectives along with the assistance of the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s newest K-9 ‘Rocky,’ located a usable amount of methamphetamine, a usable amount of marijuana, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia, in addition to several firearms,” said police spokesman Chris Angus. Storage unit burglar takes plea

KINGMAN – A plea agreement has been entered for a Bullhead City storage unit burglar. James Koryta, 46, pleaded guilty to three felony burglary charges during a February 11 hearing at the Mohave County Courthouse. Five other burglary charges and a criminal damage count are dismissed in the deal. Prosecutor Greg McPhillips said Koryta and co-defendant Eric Covell, 27, took property from eight different units at the Storage Stop business in the 3000 block of Highway 95 at the end of last September. Formed in 2000, Havasu Silent Witness endeavors to make a positive impact on crime in Lake Havasu City. Search & Rescue members recognized at dinner

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue units held their annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 1, with Sheriff Schuster. Searchers from the Bullhead City Unit, Lake Havasu City Unit, Kingman Unit and the Arizona Strip Unit were recognized for their valuable contributions to search and rescue in Mohave County. In 2019, the unit searchers responded to about 100 missions for help and numerous training classes throughout the year. Search and Rescue is made possible with searchers who volunteer their time.

Sharpe has demonstrated that he has the knowledge, experience, and determination to excel in his new rank at the Adult Detention Facility. Victim was stabbed multiple times; Nelson pleads guilty

BULLHEAD CITY – A stabbing at a behavioral health residential facility in Bullhead City will result in a prison term for one of the combatants. Ethan Nelson, 29, pleaded guilty Thursday, February 6 to aggravated assault. Terms of the deal require Judge Doug Camacho to impose a 2- to 8.75-year prison term during a March 18 sentencing hearing. Bullhead City police said Nelson stabbed his 60-year-old roommate multiple times last November at the Good Care Network home in the 2200 block of Ventura Drive.
