Human remains found near Topock

TOPOCK – Suspected human remains have been found in the vicinity of an unoccupied vehicle located north of Topock five weeks ago. Mohave County Sheriff’s office personnel first encountered the Chevrolet pickup truck where it appeared to have been abandoned near milepost 3 on County Route 1 on December 16, 2019. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said detectives returned to that location on January 9. She said they located animal tracks near where the truck was recovered. “Detectives followed the tracks into the thick brush and located several bones that appeared to be human remains,” Mortensen said. MOHAVE COUNTY – An assortment of illegal drugs was seized during a Monday, Ja. 20 traffic stop in north Mohave County. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the driver appeared to be extremely nervous when the white sedan he was driving was pulled over at 3:00 p.m. at milepost 21 on Interstate 15, near the Utah border. LAKE HAVASU CITY – Over the past six weeks, detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit investigated two incidents that occurred on November 25, 2019, at two retail stores located at 100 Retail Centre Blvd in Lake Havasu City.
