Victim was stabbed multiple times; Nelson pleads guilty

BULLHEAD CITY – A stabbing at a behavioral health residential facility in Bullhead City will result in a prison term for one of the combatants. Ethan Nelson, 29, pleaded guilty Thursday, February 6 to aggravated assault. Terms of the deal require Judge Doug Camacho to impose a 2- to 8.75-year prison term during a March 18 sentencing hearing. Bullhead City police said Nelson stabbed his 60-year-old roommate multiple times last November at the Good Care Network home in the 2200 block of Ventura Drive. Murder-suicide traffic stop

KINGMAN – State police said a local resident committed a murder-suicide following a Sunday traffic stop in Kingman. BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City police have made an arrest following a confrontation that resulted in an injury for a Walmart employee. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said officers placed Jessie Aranda, 20, in custody Monday and booked him into the Adult Detention Center on robbery and aggravated assault charges. Stumpf sentenced to 16 years in I-40 shooting death

KINGMAN – Tears flowed on both sides of the courtroom Thursday, Feb. 6, as a Kingman man was sentenced for shooting and killing his friend last February. Bradley Stumpf, 32, previously pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of Jason McCafferty, 46. Stumpf’s father apologized to McCafferty’s family and asked for mercy, while the victim’s family questioned the propriety of a plea agreement capping prison time at 20 years. Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s featured speaker January 31 was Mohave County Constable of the Kingman Precinct (and club member), Michael Cobb (shown with club president Karen Brown). Cobb gave a power point presentation on the duties of a constable. Arizona has 74 constables which are elected every four years. Primary responsibilities of constables are to enforce civil/criminal court orders arising out of justice court actions. Suitcase caper closed

KINGMAN – A four year prison term was imposed Thursday for the Kingman man who found a suitcase full of cash at the local Walmart in June, 2018. Jeremiah Peacey, 40, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to theft. Defense attorney Matthew Argyle said Peacey never set out to steal but conceded that his client did grab the unattended suitcase and took it home.
