Drivers, parents reminded of school bus safety

MOHAVE COUNTY – Three area public school superintendents have banded together to remind drivers that school buses will again be picking up and dropping off students, as the 2023-2024 school year gets under way.  In addition to buses, students will also be walking or riding bicycles to and from school, and sometimes crossing the street to and from bus stops. Bullhead City School District #15 (BCSD) and Mohave Valley Elementary School District #16 (MVESD) start classes on July 31.  Colorado River Union High School District (CRUHSD) begins its new school year on August 2. “When a school bus is displaying…

KINGMAN – The Kingman Police Department (KPD) is seeking its four-year re-accreditation through the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP).  Accreditation is a progressive and time-proven method of assisting law enforcement agencies in measuring and improving their overall performance.  ALEAP is intended to provide law enforcement agencies in the state with an avenue for demonstrating that they meet commonly accepted best practices and industry standards for efficient, effective, productive and quality operations.  A team of assessors will be conducting an on-site assessment of KPD’s compliance with the ALEAP standards as part of the…

It looked like a murder scene, but it wasn’t a murder scene

KINGMAN – The alley, cops and yellow tape looked realistic. It wasn’t a real crime scene. The Kingman Police Department and City of Kingman IT and public relation departments took on the task of filming a KPD recruitment video Tuesday morning in the alley behind Hotel Beale and The Sportsman’s Bar (‘Sporties’ as the locals call it). Although that alley has and can be the scene of various misdemeanors and felonies, this was just a simple video shoot. Nothing to be worried about. The video will add to a plan to attract new police recruits and lateral transfers to the…
