There will be a volunteer meeting at DigIt Community Gardens in Kingman to discuss their May event – Southwestern Day on April 13, at 10 a.m. at the garden. The meeting should last about an hour. They will briefly discuss the Earth Day Event after the Southwestern Day has been discussed so if your planing on volunteering for the Earth Day Event if you could please try and attend.
Bullhead Regional Habitat for Humanity has scheduled a community outreach meeting to begin the process of selecting its next family to receive a home to be built for them to purchase. The Bullhead City affiliate is part of Habitat for Humanity International which is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to selling affordable houses to qualified applicant families. Its vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. On Thursday, March 14, Kingman Police Department (KPD) Sgt. Joel Freed was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Ofc. Jason Zerr was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Lt. Freed began his career with the Kingman Police Department in May of 2000 as a patrol officer. Lt. Freed’s assignments have included patrol officer, detective and patrol sergeant. Lt. Freed will be assigned as the MAGNET Task Force Commander. Sgt. Zerr began his career with the Kingman Police Department in June 2004 as a Communications Specialist. On Thursday, March 21, Kingman Police Department (KPD) Lt. Bob Fisk retired after 25 years of service to the Kingman Police Department and the City of Kingman. Fisk started his law enforcement career as a patrol officer in July 1993. During his service Fisk was assigned as a patrol officer, motor officer and a detective. Fisk was promoted and served as a Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant and Detective Lieutenant. The National Park Service has selected Margaret L. Goodro to serve as the superintendent of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. She replaces Lizette Richardson, who retired last year. “Margaret is a proven collaborative leader who is passionate about bringing people together to protect America’s national parks while providing for recreational opportunities,” said National Park Service Deputy Director P. Daniel Smith. “Margaret is a trail blazer who has created opportunities to hire youth, minorities and disabled staff throughout the Department of the Interior.
