CRUHSD narrowing school superintendent search

The Colorado River Union High School District (CRUHSD) governing board voted unanimously late Tuesday night to narrow the search for a new school superintendent to two finalists. The two, one from Arizona and one from South Dakota, will return next week for more interviews and community forums.  Todd Flora, an education program specialist with the Arizona Department of Education’s satellite office in Flagstaff, and Timothy Mayclin, superintendent of the Kimball School District in South Dakota, were among five semifinalists interviewed by the board over two nights. Kingman team hosts tournament; play starts this morning

The City of Kingman and a local team are hosting a portion of a prestigious senior softball tournament this weekend. Based in Sacramento, California, the Senior Softball USA has moved its Spring World National Championship tournament from St. George, Utah to Kingman and Bullhead City. Some 38 teams are competing at Rotary Park in Bullhead City and 36 teams are battling at the seven field Centennial Park Complex in Kingman.  Winners of the various age divisions and bracketed levels of play qualify for the National Tournament of Champions held in Florida each February. Busy Weekend for Sports Tourism in Bullhead City

Bullhead City Recreation Division is hosting two sporting events this weekend at Rotary Park along with Mohave High School’s MEC Invitational Track meet. The first event is the Bye Bye Birdie pickleball tournament hosted by the City of Bullhead City and pickleballtournaments.com. Games will be hosted at Rotary Park’s newly developed pickleball courts. Only 48 hours after the TCU and Cal football teams finished an overtime battle in the Cheez-It Bowl, 80,000 square feet of turf had been taken up from the stadium floor. Hash marks, cleat marks, Cheez-It logos and all was loaded onto a dozen flatbed trailers and hauled 200 miles to Bullhead City, Arizona, where it was laid onto a plot of land that the community had spent thousands of dollars and many weeks preparing.
