Feasibility study approved to travel costs for board of supervisors meetings

Mohave County Board of Supervisors (BOS) meetings normally held in the Mohave County seat community of Kingman could someday be held in other northwest Arizona municipalities. District 5 Supervisor Ron Gould floated the proposal during Monday’s board meeting. “I think it would be interesting to actually take the Board of Supervisors show on the road, so to speak,” Gould said. Rotating the meetings to other communities, he said, extends citizen observation and participation opportunity to residents who otherwise have at least a 100-mile, round-trip drive to endure. Some 100 turn out for courthouse groundbreaking

KINGMAN – A Monday afternoon groundbreaking ceremony celebrated a multi-million campaign to upgrade the Mohave County courthouse in downtown Kingman. The project involves a 66,000 sq. ft addition to provide additional space and the remodeling of the original historic courthouse that opened in 1915. About 100 people in attendance heard presiding Superior Court Judge Charles Gurtler thank many involved with the effort. Judge Gurtler also introduced a mix of dignitaries in the audience, ranging from staff members in Mohave County and Kingman city government to elected officials and judges. Laughlin Chamber raises more than $15,000 for Cancer Connection

Through the rain and sunshine, over 540 participants walked for the cause! The 6TH Annual Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll was held on Saturday, March 2nd at the Pyramid Canyon day use area of North Reach Heritage Trails. Despite the morning being met with a mild downpour, over 540 participants registered to support the cause!  Shortly after the walk began, the sun came out from behind the clouds. MCC math success rates for students to be showcased at national convention

Mohave Community College has been so successful preparing students to succeed at math, that college representatives have been invited to a national conference to showcase how they did it. The Higher Learning Commission, H.L.C., National Conference is the first week of April in Chicago.  H.L.C. invited MCC to explain the college’s new Transitional Math initiative that led to higher student success rates.
