BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has provided more information regarding a deadly traffic accident in Bullhead City early Monday morning. The civilian who was killed in the head-on crash has been identified as Jeremy Miller, 32, Kingman.
Kingman police say the second vehicle involved in the collision, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, had been stolen from the 3500 block of North Bond. Its owners were unaware it had been taken overnight until contacted by police after the crash.
Bullhead City police reported that officers attempting to pull over the Hyundai at about 4:00 a.m. were forced to terminate the first pursuit for public safety reasons. A second pursuit reportedly lasted a couple of minutes before the Hyundai crossed over into traffic and struck the vehicle driven by Miller.
Four juveniles and an 18-year-old in the stolen vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
DPS said the driver of the Hyundai, a 15-year-old male from Redlands, California, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of unlawful flight, and a weapons misconduct violation. He is also wanted by the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections for an alleged parole violation.
DPS said stolen vehicle passenger Matthew Silvas, 18, Kingman, is being charged with first-degree murder and that additional charges may be forthcoming.
DPS said the other three juveniles, all of Kingman, face prosecution for the auto theft and for being runaways. Investigation is ongoing.
