MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – Although he accomplished a great deal, with a wide range of interests while in the Arizona House of Representatives, John Gillette will not be seeking reelection.
“Politics is hard and often demanding,” Gillette said. “People want me to run for everything from Supervisor to Sheriff, even Governor. Hahaha. Not a chance.”
Instead he has opted to work on President Trump’s team.
“I will be working to support the Trump Executive Order for Shield of America, bringing South and Central American and North American rare earth minerals into the U.S. supply chain,” Gillette stated.
“This is a two-fold mission to support American industry and defense with necessary minerals and metals, while stopping China from advancing their strategic and economic efforts.”
Gillette was Vice Chairman of the House of Government Committee, Chair for Federalism, Military Affairs and Elections Committee.
With HB2043, Gillette joined Representative Selina Bliss introducing unnecessary supervision requirement for experienced physician assistants after 8,000 hours of Board-certified clinical practice.
Gillette introduced a bill seeking $4, 371,100 to design and construct the Mohave Wash Recharge Basin and the Rattlesnake Wash to capture storm water that would otherwise drain into the acquifer recharge.
The stand-alone bill did not become law; however, project funding in the amount of $3.4 million did, he stated.
He said he also helped District 30 by paving the way for a low-interest Water Infrastructute Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA) loan for water exploration and measuring.
He authored bills requesting the president to declare the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as terrorist organizations.
One of his goals while still in office until January 2027, he said, is to let the voters who put him there know how grateful he is for them.
“I want to thank the voters of District 30 for placing their trust in me to help move our district and our state forward in a Constitutional manner, while working to reduce the size and reach of government,” Gillette stated.
