Bullhead City Recreation Division is hosting two sporting events this weekend at Rotary Park along with Mohave High School’s MEC Invitational Track meet. The first event is the Bye Bye Birdie pickleball tournament hosted by the City of Bullhead City and pickleballtournaments.com. Games will be hosted at Rotary Park’s newly developed pickleball courts. This will be the first tournament on the new courts with players from Canada, Minnesota, South Dakota, Georgia, Idaho, California, Nevada and Arizona. The Bureau of Reclamation has updated its monthly 24-month study projections, indicating improved hydrological conditions throughout the Colorado River Basin. Current snowpack in the Upper Basin is nearly 140 percent of average, with a projected inflow to Lake Powell of 92 percent of average for water year 2019.  “We are pleased to see the above average snowpack conditions in the Upper Basin and the improvement in the inflow forecast for Lake Powell,” said Reclamation Upper Colorado Regional Director Brent Rhees. “Significant risks and uncertainty persist and storage at Lake Powell remains essential to the overall well-being of the basin.” “These…

Kingman Middle School will send four of its talented musicians to the Arizona Music Educators Association’s All-State Honor Band Festival this weekend. Nearly 300 of Arizona’s highly achieving middle school instrumentalists, grades 6-7-8, will gather at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona on March 16, 2019 to rehearse and perform grade level concerts in the school’s 1,000-seat auditorium. Performers for the Sixth Grade All-State Band were selected by nomination. Arizona’s seventh and eighth grade musicians auditioned in October 2018 to become part of the prestigious ensembles.
