Every year Fire Departments respond to emergencies where the use of fireworks has injured someone. The Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC) 2017 report states an estimated 12,900 firework-related injuries were treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments. Of those, 36 percent were people younger than 15 years of age. Children 10 to 14 years of age had the highest estimated rate of emergency treated firework-related injuries, while young adults aged 20-24 years of age had the second highest estimated rate. A traffic fatality is under investigation on Interstate 40, about 20 miles east of Kingman. The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the incident occurred at 2:09 p.m. Saturday. Agency spokesman Bart Graves said a semi truck was eastbound when right rear tire failure caused it to begin swerving back and forth. “The truck driver lost control and the vehicle entered the median while rotating counter-clockwise,” Graves said. “The vehicle then rolled in the median. Rulemaking package next goes to Governor’s Regulatory Review Council for review The Arizona Game and Fish Commission on June 21, voted 4-0 to approve a Notice of Final Rulemaking that, if approved by the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council (GRRC), would designate a predator or fur-bearing hunt contest, as defined by the rule, an unlawful manner and method of take for these species. A 26-year-old Mesa man was killed in a boating incident on the California side of Lake Havasu. San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responded at 12:49 p.m. Sunday to the incident in California Bay. “The operator and 4 passengers left the Bridgewater Channel and headed south on Lake Havasu when the operator, Ismael Ortiz, stopped the vessel and jumped into the water to cool off. Centralized drop off located at city public works Starting this week, the green recycling bins located around the city will be removed, centralizing recycling drop off to one location: Kingman Public Works, 3700 East Andy Devine Avenue. Starting next week (July 1), the new drop off hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. through 12 noon Saturday and Sunday The city sanitation department was increasingly losing money, due to people throwing unacceptable items into the green bins.
