Since 1998, The Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at San Jose State University have reported that there have been 804 pediatric vehicular heatstroke deaths in the United States, where more than half of the deaths are children under two years of age. In 2019, there have been a total of nine deaths reported, with two deaths reported in Arizona. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists with travel plans along US 93 north of Wikieup to plan ahead and expect delays of up to 20 minutes through early August while road construction is underway. Intermittent lane closures will occur nightly, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., beginning Monday, June 3. Overnight work is scheduled to continue through early August. The work will allow construction crews to move material to build the new highway alignment.  The 4-mile, four-lane divided highway is scheduled for completion in late 2020. ADOT reminds motorists to use caution around construction personnel and equipment, slow down and be prepared to merge into the…

Grand Canyon National Park’s summer season is set to begin in the next few weeks, plan ahead to make the most of the trip! Visitors stopping by the South Rim on Saturday, June 1, are invited to participate in Wildlife Day activities from 10 am to 4 pm at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center plaza.
