Afghanistan

Dear Editor, Did we really need to be there for so many years and the casualties we sustained? I believe that many who have been in the region, many service and government personnel thought, why are we here? Was Afghanistan and its people a threat to the U.S.? What really was the mission? Twenty years later what did we accomplish? I leave that to you. I am an older veteran and had spent time in the Middle East and thought from the beginning the country was not ready to accept change until the people have better schools and most get…

Blinken, Winken, and Nod

Dear Editor, It would appear that Secretary of State Blinken needs help from his side kicks, Winken & Nod. Afghanistan has fallen. It was not a strategic pull out, it was a “BUG OUT ” of immense proportion.  We now have another Democrat Sec. of State who does not know what he is doing and blindly follows the orders of a president—Joe Biden—who knows even less.  I hope and pray the Ambassador and the people in our embassy are rescued in time.  Our last Democrat Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, knew exactly what she was doing. She knew she was leaving our Ambassador and the people…

Afghanistan – God Help Them

Dear Editor, Many Americans did not want our military invading Afghanistan. We did not want our military to stay in Afghanistan. Many of us hoped our troops would leave Afghanistan. However, the chaotic departure has been one of the most humiliating moments in our nation’s history.  We were all enraged toward those who had any part or interest in the September 11, 2001 attacks on our nation. This nation was in agreement that Osama Bin Laden and anyone connected to planning the attacks located in any part of the world must be brought to justice. We wanted all leaders and…

BCSD recruiting substitute teachers

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City School District is looking for local individuals interested in working as substitute teachers for the 2021-2022 school year, which just started.  Substitute teachers are able to make their own schedules while filling Pre-K through eighth grade classroom positions. All substitutes are employed by Educational Services Inc. (ESI), an Arizona-based company.  The pay ranges from $100 to $150 daily, depending upon classroom circumstances.  ESI also has a benefits package. “We are encouraging people with valid substitute or teaching certificates to apply,” said BCSD Superintendent Carolyn Stewart.  “This can include retirees, those who have left the…

Iraq and WMDs

Dear Editor, I know for an absolute fact there were WMDs in Iraq. Thousands of others in the military do as well but this issue gets little to no publicity. It’s been a government coverup since the war ended. Let me explain as follows. I have several friends who were over there and saw WMDs with their own eyes. Most of the WMDs were trucked out over to Syria where they are to this day. They saw this being done. I have a friend who was on a U.S. Naval ship when many WMDs were being sent to Iraq during…

Boyd selected for BCSD vacancy

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City School District (BCSD) governing board is recommending long-time resident Anna Boyd to fill a school board vacancy created by the resignation of member Brandee Dubois, who stepped down in July.  Boyd is a math teacher at Mohave High School. A formal appointment will then be made by Mohave County School Superintendent Mike File.  Under state law, File has the right to accept or reject a board’s recommendation, or unilaterally name his own appointee. Because a vacancy is being filled, that seat will be up for election next year (2022) rather than at the end…
