COVID-19 update: 30 new case, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY –  Late Sunday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 30 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. There is one new confirmed death in the Kingman service area, a 90+ person from a previously reported case. Of the 30 new cases, 15 are in the Bullhead City service area. There are 9 in the Lake Havasu City service area. There are 5 in the Kingman service area and there is 1 in the North County service area. Officer-involved shooting under investigation

CANE BEDS – An officer-involved shooting (OIS) is under investigation in the north Mohave County community of Cane Beds. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office received a report of shots fired at a residence at an unspecified time of day on Saturday. “Due to the nature of the call, the on-duty Mohave County deputy requested assistance from the Colorado City Marshal’s Office (CCMO),” said sheriff spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. She said CCMO officers arrived at the home before the deputy. “Upon arrival, the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at the CCMO officers,” Mortensen said. “One officer fired one round at the suspect.”…

Kingman Industrial Park acreage sought

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is taking a proactive approach in seeking voter approval in November to liquidate property it will not control until sometime next spring. The city council voted July 21 to bring the question to the people in the upcoming general election. City Manager Ron Foggin said the city can save about $30,000 by piggybacking the Kingman question on the November 3 general election ballot rather than having a stand-alone election early next year. “We’re just excited to be able to have this done now instead of having a special election early next year,” Foggin said….
