BHC Chamber launches program to pay late business utilities

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce has commenced Operation Business Care – a multi-pronged approach to help area businesses recover.  It is looking to help more than 25 local businesses with past due power and gas bills. Thanks to a $40,000 grant from the State of Arizona and the AZ Commerce Authority, the nonprofit is accepting applications from area businesses who got behind in their MEC and Southwest gas bills due to the impacts of COVID pandemic. Flora resigns as CRUHSD superintendent; Wilcox named as interim

BULLHEAD CITY – The Colorado River Union High School District governing board has unanimously accepted the resignation of Todd Flora as superintendent.  During the same meeting Thursday night, board members named River Valley High School principal Dorn Wilcox as interim superintendent pending the search for a permanent superintendent. Bullhead crash brings prison deal

BULLHEAD CITY – Driving another person’s vehicle without permission while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of a Bullhead City traffic accident will result in a prison sentence for a Marana man. Buddy Smith, 47, pleaded guilty Friday to leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. Terms of the plea agreement will result in other convictions for unlawful use of means of transportation and driving under the influence of alcohol. Criminal damage charges are dismissed in the deal. Wind farm feeds California electricity needs

MOHAVE COUNTY – The largest renewable energy project in Mohave County began generating electricity in mid-December without any fanfare. After so many projects fell by the wayside over so many years, the White Hills Wind project initiated commercial scale production on Dec. 16, about 40 miles north of Kingman. There was no ribbon cutting or news release. In fact, owner Next Era Energy declined to provide operations information during separate media inquiries in recent months.
