Public defender found to be in contempt of court; fined $1,000

Askar resigns position Jan. 21 MOHAVE COUNTY – A Mohave County Public Defender resigned his position just five days after he was found in contempt of Court and fined by Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert. Judge Lambert and indigent defense attorney Jamie Askar engaged in a very unique and somewhat heated exchange between hearings on January 16. Judge Lambert first fined Askar $100 before he twice increased the sanction and asked the lawyer if he’d like to go to jail. Communists are to blame for everything

Dear Editor, I was at Walgreens with a buddy and something happened. I was wearing my Trump hat and a campaign button about veterans. I’d gotten my prescription and was walking back. There was a line waiting. A young politically correct ‘clone girl’, 20- something was offended by my hat. All the rest, older people, smiled at me. I guess I’m a minority, after all America. Sixty-seven percent of you think it would be all right to have a Socialist president! I guess you want all of your freedoms taken away, another communist country. Secret police, political officers, telling you…

I don’t want to think about it

Dear Editor, For many, many years the mental image of an ostrich with its head buried in the sand has illustrated the mindset of people who flatly refuse to look at any uncomfortable reality. Their thinking seems to be that “If I can’t see it, it can’t be happening”. I recently had a conversation with a sweet lady who told me she didn’t want to even think about a particular upcoming reality. She said very forcefully “I don’t want to think about it”. She got more than a bit miffed at me when I told her that whether she liked…
