COVID 19 update: One death over weekend, total countywide cases is 505

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Sunday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of eleven new COVID-19 confirmed cases and one death.  The death is that of a 70-79 year age range person in the Bullhead City service area. Of the 11 new cases, 8 are in the Bullhead City service area.  Seven of those have their cases under investigation. One is 19-29; three are 30-39; one is 50-59; two are 60-69. Mom killer gets life sentence

KINGMAN – A Kingman man who killed his girlfriend’s mother was given a “life prison” sentence during a June 5 hearing at the Mohave County courthouse. The punishment is mandated in the plea agreement for Mark Baldonado, 32. Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle explained that Baldonado may never get out of prison but he would have to serve 25 calendar years before his release becomes possible. Baldonado told the Court that he was messed up on drugs in the period leading up to the homicide. He said getting off drugs and finding God while jailed will help him rehabilitate and…

Vegas man drowned at Lake Havasu

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Las Vegas man drowned over the weekend at Lake Havasu. Mohave County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said public safety personnel from several agencies responded at 3:01 p.m. Saturday when it was reported that a man went missing in the area of Thompson Bay. “A firefighter with the Lake Havasu City Fire Department located the missing male on the lake bottom about 25 feet offshore and in about seven feet of water,” Mortensen said. “Fire personnel along with MCSO deputies and Lake Havasu City police officers pulled the male to shore and began CPR and…
