Semi-annual All Town Yard Sale returns to Chloride this weekend

City of Chloride welcome sign

CHLORIDE – The Chloride Chamber of Commerce is hosting the semi-annual All Town Yard Sale Saturday, November 8. With the hot weather gone, the folks in Chloride are filling their yards with all kinds of unique treasures starting at 8 a.m.

There will be antiques, collectables and other good stuff at bargain prices. The Mineshaft Market on Tennessee Avenue will have an official map of all the sales.

The famous Chloride’s bakers will fill the bake sale tables with delicious goodies at the corner of Second Street and Elkhart Avenue in front of the old fire station starting at 9 a.m. Attendees can choose from a large variety of cookies, cakes, pastries, and other mouth-watering delights. Official maps of the sales are also available at this location as well.

In addition to the yard sales, attendees have other activites available as well, including the Historical Society’s Cyanide Springs on Elkhart Avenue. The Jim Fritz Museum, and the Silver Belle playhouse next door, are full of photos and memorabilia from Chloride’s glory days. A docent there can answer your questions about Chloride’s silver mining days.

There is also the retail shops in Cyanide Springs and all over town which have many locally made products, including hand crafted wood items, jewelry, antiques, collectables, western art, and one-of-a-kind creations.

Other destinations include Arizona’s oldest continually operated post office on Tennessee Avenue, as well as the over 125-year-old Baptist Church on Payroll Avenue.

Food options include the park on Second Street that has picnic facilities, Yesterday’s Restaurant, and the Mineshaft Market on Tennessee Avenue that has hot dogs and drinks.

About one mile east of Chloride are the world-famous Roy Purcell Murals painted in the 1960’s, and petroglyphs left here by the Hualapai Indians who lived on this land. Mineshaft Market has directions and road conditions.

Chloride is Arizona’s oldest inhabited silver mining camp and is located 23 miles north of Kingman—80 miles south of Las Vegas. Follow Highway 93 to State Route 125, turn east four miles. Watch for the Chloride signs. For more information call (626) 483-4571.
