Murder, other charges dismissed in fatal shooting

BULLHEAD CITY – Charges in a Bullhead City homicide case have been dismissed by a judge at the request of the Mohave County Attorney’s Office (MCAO).

Tyler Nelson, 22, and his mother Toni Sierra, 41, both of Fort Mohave, were charged as part of an investigation into the Aug. 20, 2025, shooting of Andrea Kristy, 58, Bullhead City, at a “flop house” in the 1000 block of Holly Street. Kristy died days later where she was being treated at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

Nelson was charged with second degree murder for allegedly shooting Kristy in the back multiple times. Both he and his mother were also charged with burglary in the case.

Court records indicate that Sierra’s burglary charge was dismissed on March 25 and Nelson’s charges were dismissed on April 15. The dismissals are without prejudice, which means they can be refiled in the future.

Representatives of the MCAO did not initially answer dismissal-related questions. In her motion to dismiss Nelson’s charges, prosecutor Amanda Claerhout said newly discovered evidence rendered the state not ready for the scheduled trial.

“Additionally, the state is still looking for a key witness,” the motion said.

The Bullhead City Police Department indicated it thought the case was going forward and was unaware, when asked about the case dismissals.
