Karen Belinds Eats (Chowns)

On May 7, 2025, “The roll was called up yonder” for our beloved wife, mother, sister, mamaw, and great mamaw, Karen Belinda Eads (Chowns), born September 2, 1953.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Christopher E. Eads, son, Edward Eads (Rebekah), and daughter Belienda Schultz (Mark). Grandchildren: Allen Eads (Tori), Matthew Eads (Ashley), Michael Eads (Mayla), Elijah Schultz, Gianna Schultz, Hannah Schultz, Zariah Schultz, and Asher Schultz. Great grandchildren: Faith Eads, Huck Eads, Joelynn Eads, and Jace Eads and sister, Kaye DeVoe.

Karen had a servant heart, most notably remembered for making wedding cakes for “love birds” free of charge. She went above and beyond in everything she took on. We recall her meeting a young woman that did not have a wedding dress so she borrowed one from a friend insisting that she needed to be able to experience “every little girl’s dream wedding”. For many a year you would find her in the kitchen cooking a meal for the church members of First Southern Baptist, Kingman so “they could have one less thing to worry about and just enjoy Wednesday night Bible study”. One of her greatest joys was to serve in the children’s ministry at church “lov’n on her babies”.

She loved the great outdoors; Dog Town Lake in Williams, AZ was one of her favorite places, it was there where she would truly be able to fully relax and refresh herself from all life’s struggles. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and gardening.

She had a contagious smile and mischievous nature. As children, we learned early on not to push her buttons as she would get you back, often when you least expected it. Usually, it involved soaking us with a pail of water as we walked out of our bedrooms with no care the carpet would get soaked! She was tiny but full of might!

In her last days she would say with assurance “I know where I am going so don’t you worry about anything, God is in control”.

As the rain came down and the family sang the old hymns around her, we watched our beautiful wife and mother run into the arms of her Savior.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marjorie Chowns, In-laws Edward and Virginia Eads, brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Linda Chowns, brother-in-law, Dude DeVoe, and precious daughter in law, Deanna Eads.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date and will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, in Kingman, AZ. A celebration of Life will be held on May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Kingman First Souther Baptist Church, located at 3120 Hualapai Mountain Rd.

Sutton Memorial Funeral Home is caring for the family’s request of cremation.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you celebrate her life by showing an act of kindness or generosity to someone today.

If you would like to honor her memory, the best way would be to take a moment to consider where you will spend your everlasting life. If you are not sure or would like to know how you can be sure, please call or talk with a Christian today.
