LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City woman is facing prosecution for tampering with political signs. Investigation began June 7 when officers were dispatched at 9:55 p.m. to a report that an individual was removing political campaign signs post in the area of SR 95 and Acoma Boulevard.
“Upon arrival, officers contacted a witness who reported observing a female subject removing multiple political campaign signs representing several candidates and discarding them on the ground,” Police Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said. “The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival and was not located that evening. The witness provided responding officers with a photograph of the suspect and her vehicle.”
Ridgway said follow-up investigation identified the suspect at Lisa Priester, 65, on June 8. “It was determined that Priester was responsible for the removal and damage of political signs belonging to seven separate candidates,” Ridgway said.
Prisester is charged with seven misdemeanor offenses for removing a political sign.
“The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind the community that the removal, defacement, or damage of political signs is a criminal offense, and appropriate enforcement action will be taken,” Ridgway said. “Community members with concerns regarding the placement of political signs or potential safety hazards are encouraged to contact Lake Havasu City Code Enforcement at 928-453-4148.’’
