Eagle Scout project enhances park safety and emergency response in Bullhead

BULLHEAD CITY — Kaden Mills, who is working toward the highest rank in Scouting — Eagle Scout — has demonstrated dedication and leadership through both Scouting and community involvement. A proud member of Scouts BSA Troop 104 in Fort Mohave, Kaden also attends Mohave High School and serves in the Air Force Junior ROTC in Bullhead City. He recently led a community service project at Bullhead City Community Park, bringing people together to create a lasting impact.

His Eagle project focused on improving public safety and emergency response by replacing and upgrading the park marker signs with new aluminum signs featuring high-visibility red numbering and updated QR codes that link directly to the city’s Parks and Recreation website. These new signs make it easier for park visitors to clearly identify what community park they are at, their exact location inside the park, and quickly relay it to dispatchers during emergencies. This enhancement allows first responders to pinpoint incidents faster, reducing response times and helping ensure timely assistance in situations where every second matters.

The Eagle Scout project process is a significant milestone in the Scouting program that includes multiple steps: developing a detailed project proposal, presenting it to the beneficiary organization, and receiving formal approval from an Eagle Scout Board of Review before any work begins. After proposal approval, the Scout plans, fundraises, leads volunteers to execute the project, and then completes a final written report. The project concludes with a second Eagle Board of Review, where the Scout demonstrates leadership, planning, and community impact before the rank of Eagle can be awarded.

Kaden Mills stands in front of one of the signs installed as part of his project.

This project was carried out with the support of his fellow Scouts; Adult Leaders and Youth of Troop 104, Mohave High School Air Force Junior ROTC members, community volunteers, Bullhead City Parks & Recreation staff, and generous contributions from local businesses, organizations, and families. Donors included: City of Bullhead City, Endura Steel, Zubrick T-shirts, Bullhead City Firefighters Charities, Fraternal Order of Police Colorado River Lodge 50, Colorado Breeze/Laughlin River Tours, TTR Motorsports, River Jetz, and Marvelous Leatherworks.

Kaden Mills expresses his sincere gratitude to all volunteers and donors who contributed time, materials, and funds to make this project a success.
