Taxes, border issues, entitlement programs at risk

Dear Editor, Mr. Goyeneche, again I have to agree, congress should amend tax laws politicians should not enter the institution paupers and exit millionaires. However, I am not suggesting millionaires be ‘punished for being successful.” I simply believe they should be made to pay their fair share of taxes. I believe it was Warren Buffet who commented he pays less taxes than his secretary. To me that is not equitable. Trump’s tax cuts allowed corporations to buy back shares of their own stocks. Lowe’s bought back ten billion dollars’ worth of their shares, then fired thousands of workers. As for…

Does everyone have the right to know when you are sick?

Dear Editor, Some people want you to know when they have a cold, bad hair day, gout or hemorrhoid flare up. Many of us have seen pictures of wounds, sores, legs in casts, people on ventilators and much more. Many of us have seen a lot of dead bodies on social media. Numerous funerals of people you may have known have appeared on social media. Maybe this works out for people who can’t attend the funeral. I’m not being critical. If this works for the family, then it’s no one else’s business. If the deceased person was a private kind…

Gala to be held for Cornerstone Mission

Dear Editor, Cornerstone Mission, one of the largest non-profit organizations in Mohave County, needs our help!  The mission was invited to apply for a grant by the Arizona Department of Housing and Arizona Housing Coalition (AHC). They applied and were awarded $349,000, in which they used as proof to take out a bridge loan to meet the grant requirements. They were given a timeframe in which the funds needed to be disbursed and stipulations on how and when they needed to be spent. If not spent in accordance with the requirements the funds would be lost. After three months of Cornerstone Mission using those funds…

“Grass is Greener”

Dear Editor, The first step in resolving any issue in life is to identify and define the problem and its origin, honestly. Kingman is my chosen hometown and just like you I care a great deal about my community, the people, and the quality of their lives. The Kingman City Council and the city government have shown time and time again they really do care about the city and they are currently doing a decent job trying to keep the Kingman residents informed, yet the city faces dozens of critical ongoing problems: • Uncontrolled Growth • Aging and inadequate infrastructure…

The National Enquirer’s Pecker Lie and butt-busting frogs

Dear Editor, I’ve never bought a copy of The National Enquirer. However, I’ve read from it some down through the years. If I’ve been standing in a grocery store checkout line for a few minutes then the tabloid has been a source of comic fodder. It’s always been a good comic book.  I’ve never read anything in the publication that I took as gospel truth. Typically, the headlines have been something sensational like, “Green Creatures from Mars Visit the White House,” or, “76-year-old woman has triplets. Democrats blame it on George H.W. Bush.”  The former publisher David Pecker, recently admitted…

Locomotive Park monthly peace vigil set

Dear Editor, Now that poor health concerns and bad weather has hopefully passed, this Wednesday, May 1, from 4-4:30, the monthly peace vigil will resume. This monthly peace vigil began two years ago in support of Ukraine and to be held one time per month at Locomotive Park on the first of each month.  Subsequent to the initiation of this vigil armed conflicts have increased particularly in the Mideast thus the vigil is in support of world peace. Fellow peace activists please join us to stand for peace at Locomotive Park from 4 to 4:30.   Hope to see you there any questions call…
