NACFD’s logo being used without permission

Dear Editor, On Wednesday afternoon, the governing board of the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 (NACFD) announced that NACFD does not endorse any candidate in any election and any use of NACFD’s logo, patch, or other NACFD images in political material are not authorized by NACFD. This special meeting was scheduled after NACFD became aware that its logo was being used by Rick Veradt, Jerry Lucero, and Sue Brown, without permission, on political signs and on a website. The individuals using the NACFD logo were put on notice that their use is misleading as it falsely portrays NACFD’s support…

Fix Our Medical Insurance Dilemma

Dear Editor, Give all Americans the option to buy into Medicare. I’ve paid into Social Security and Medicare my entire life. I’m still paying to be on plan B and supplemental coverage. I also pay for prescription insurance. I often feel like a coffee coupon from McDonald’s would pay for about as much medicine as my prescription card pays. I no longer pay over $1600 a month in medical insurance but I still pay about $450 a month even with Medicare. Nothing is free.  Americans should have the option to buy into Medicare especially if medical insurance will not cover…

Presidential Debate or Wrestling Match? We must have better than this

Dear Editor, September 29, 2020, was just another bad day in 2020. We thought that with Covid-19, unemployment, and riots in the streets of America’s cities it could not get worse. It did. Joe Biden, Donald Trump and Chris Wallace gave us a “show?” we will never forget. Our leaders used to make us proud. We grew up wanting to emulate people in high places who inspired us with their remarkable lives. We watched how they conducted themselves, communicated and chose their words wisely with dignity, diplomacy and grace. This doesn’t happen anymore in America. Tuesday’s debate was just another…

Jack Ehrhardt endorsed

Dear Editor, I would like to take this opportunity to endorse a true progressive candidate for Mohave County District 4 Supervisor, Jack Ehrhardt. Jack has worked with me through the past 10 years to protect one million acres of our beautiful Grand Canyon lands from uranium mining which would threaten its pristine beauty and would pollute the Colorado River with toxic heavy metals. Jack Ehrhardt, a conservative conservationist, has been and is an active local leader in preserving northwestern Arizona water resources for residents, municipalities and businesses. He is a contractor dedicated to building environmentally sound structures on native lands…

Get your information from reliable sources

Dear Editor, The only conclusion one may possibly reach from reading some opinion letters in The Standard, is there must be something in the Kool-Aid the writer is drinking. How else can you explain (in this information age) the COVID-19 hoax, especially when the writer uses CDC information to attempt proving her ill-conceived opinion. She writes, “The DCD has just updated its statistics that 94% of the supposed COVID-19 deaths were not actually COVID-19 deaths. They were advanced in age and had 2-3 comorbidities, which in plain English means they died from natural causes or from something else.” She then…
