Signs are being corrected

Dear Editor, We understand that the NACFD board has sent a news release to you re: Our campaign signs. We explained our signs but the board still demanded our signs be taken down. In an effort to appease them we have altered our signs. I have attached a copy of our original response to the NACFD board. As of today I am still double checking our signs to make sure they are altered. We hope you will include this response if you print the NACFD news release. Rick Veradt Kingman

NACFD board elections discussed

Dear Editor, I am a retired Los Angeles county firefighter. I served 31 years and retired in 1999. We moved to Kingman 10 years ago. We live in the NACFD district and have noticed a lot of campaign signs for former board members Lucero, Veradt, and Brown. On these signs they say if elected they will reopen five closed fire stations. Why are those stations closed? No fire chief in the world wants to close a working station. The reason a station has to close is because there is no longer the tax base to fund it. Some of those…

COVID and Mohave County

Dear Editor, I only go to the supermarket, doctor’s office and pick-up food now and then at one or two of the restaurants. I’ve noticed that two of our supermarkets enforce wearing a mask and one does not. I will no longer shop at that particular market. The restaurants I have gone to for take – out also enforce the mask rule and people have been abiding by the store’s rules. However, the other morning I went to one of the restaurants just after it opened. I had called my order in so it was ready when I got there….

Turn off the TV

Dear Editor, As we continue with the COVID-19 nonsense on who’s to blame. I focused on something more pressing. Much more serious and time consuming than who’s the grown up in the room. It even tops what the President and Joe Biden did at the most ridiculous debate we all witnessed. The ever present TV commercials. I’m not talking about Joe Biden or President Trump’s commercials. I’m talking about the ones that ask you about “Erectile Dysfunction ” “Bladder Leaks” and if you’ve been abused by the Boy Scout leaders, Round up commercials and the kicker, call girls who will…

NACFD’s logo being used without permission

Dear Editor, On Wednesday afternoon, the governing board of the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 (NACFD) announced that NACFD does not endorse any candidate in any election and any use of NACFD’s logo, patch, or other NACFD images in political material are not authorized by NACFD. This special meeting was scheduled after NACFD became aware that its logo was being used by Rick Veradt, Jerry Lucero, and Sue Brown, without permission, on political signs and on a website. The individuals using the NACFD logo were put on notice that their use is misleading as it falsely portrays NACFD’s support…
