Win or lose, we all lose

Dear Editor, In a tweet, President Trump instructs Treasury Secretary Mnuchin to stop negotiations on a new stimulus plan with House Speaker Pelosi until after the election. He tweeted “… immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill.” Then, presumably upon realizing the potential damage that plan might possibly inflict on his re-election prospects, (especially since he had just tweeted “Work together to get it done”), while hospitalized, he changed his tune. Now Trump would like to give $25 billion to bail out airlines as well as supporting troubled businesses. Never mind there are perhaps millions of…

Marxist model will not work out well for 21st century America

Dear Editor: The biggest problem with democracy is that an ill-informed and poorly educated electorate can vote their way into tyranny in a single election. That election is upon us. The Democratic party and its disastrous socialist ideas will destroy our wonderful, unique nation. They seek a one-party state with no room for opposing opinions. The spawn of our institutions of higher indoctrination are okay with this, the rest of us should not be. This election is not about Trump or Biden, it is about our freedom and liberty versus the Marxist model of the state making all decisions for…

What do you want your tax dollars funding?

Dear Editor, I want to thank first of all The Standard newspaper for the privilege of allowing me to share week after week with the people of faith and others in Mohave County. Thank you all very much. Today I’ll be brief, as I call every Christian or all red blooded Americans, of faith or not, to heed what is happening here in America and globally. I want to draw your attention to a few terms, hoping that you’ll educate yourself on what is transpiring. Most people are unaware as I was, until a couple of years ago. These terms…

Exercise your voting privilege

Dear Editor, Honor the memory of people who died in battle to defend American freedoms. Vote. Lives were sacrificed so that America can continue to experience freedom – that includes the freedom to vote! All citizens must vote so as not to trivialize these war dead. Don’t allow yourself to be immobilized by your indecision, indifference, or sense of powerlessness. Vote! Certainly, each woman and man who has died for our freedom deserves no less. To vote is your civic and patriotic responsibility. When you exercise your right to vote this allows you the privilege to actively engage in post-election…

NACFD: For the record

Dear Editor, In the “Letters to the Editor” on 10/7/20, we were accused of buying the hay barn at 2600 E. Northern Ave. Someone at The Standard should check the facts before publishing. Neither Gerald Lucero, Richard Veradt nor Susan Brown have served on the current NACFD1 Board. In 2012, when the building was purchased, Bailey, Collins, and Berg controlled the board. The building was purchased with no appraisal. One realtor represented both the buyer and seller without bids for that service, and the two other board members at the time were assured by then-Fire Chief Pat Moore that everything…
