It’s a Marine thing: Why Marines say “Semper Fi”

The following submission was published in the Winter edition of “Semper Fi”, the magazine of the Marine Corps League. It is authored by Kingman resident Terry Flanagan, Commandant, Dean W. Reiter Detachment 887. Some time ago, I pulled into a gas station, and as I exited my pickup, a voice was heard behind me: “Semper Fi.” As I turned to see who had used the term, a gentleman with a baseball cap that had the EGA and the word ‘Marine’, had just exited the vehicle behind me at the pumps. Our bill will save lives and protect women

Dear Editor, Despite the efforts of the left, Arizona is a pro-life state. In addition to our pro-life laws, our state is home to dozens of centers, clinics, and social services to support women and families facing unplanned pregnancy. But what happens when those very women and families don’t know about these resources? 12 years ago, Tina Stephens had an abortion. But an abortion was the last thing she wanted. Restrictions against business use in Valle Vista

Dear Editor, Attention to all property owners of Valle Vista: You agreed to follow the CL&Rs when you purchased residential property in the Valle Vista POA. Knowing this, current business activities are in jeopardy of receiving violation notices from the Compliance Committee. Business examples that I have noticed include auto repair facilities, B&Bs, realtors and contractors. It would be appreciated that all Valle Vista residents follow the existing CL&Rs. Thank you for reading this and cooperating to make Valle Vista a more pleasant and beautiful place to live. Kim Gaines Valle Vista

Have a voice in our democracy

Dear Editor, Voting is vital to our American democracy and is the right of all Americans. For The People Act, HR 1 which has been pending, is an important legislative initiative that further assures this right. Principally it protects and strengthens voting rights, addresses ethics reforms, ends partisan gerrymandering, and closes the revolving door to reduce corruption and/or conflict of interests in our government. Write your representative in Washington and ask them to vote yes on HR 1 to assure ordinary citizens in America have a voice in our esteemed democracy. Christine Meisenheimer Kingman
