Dear Editor, Acts of violence against a marriage partner have never saved a marriage. Violent acts toward family members have never made a family happier. Typically, they create emotional and sometimes physical wounds that are never forgotten. Too many families have suffered because someone in the family became violent.  Violence in our communities and towns always results in pain, division and sometimes even loss of life. Violence typically brings the wrong people together to do bad things. Dear Editor, After careful consideration, the steering committee of Kingman Women Making History has made a very difficult decision.  The March event to honor Kingman Women Making History has been canceled.  We have every intention of holding the event in 2022. We are choosing to be respectful of the public and the health and safety of all participants and guests.  Normally this event brings an excess of 200 people.  We feel a deep responsibility to past winners and future recipients to be respectful of their well being.   In these challenging times the committee wishes to focus on the positive.  For…

Dear Editor, When I was sixteen years old, I was invited to speak at a little country church in rural Denver Kentucky, not far from Paintsville. The church had all but closed its doors but one man, Harold Rice, and his family wanted to see the church stay open and do well.  A church with few to almost no people typically does not attract too many interested ministers.
